My son loaned a new video game to his friend. His friend sold the game system with them game inside. After 73 days my son got the game back from the new owner of the game system but the game is destroyed and can not be played. Truthfully, the costs of the filing fee in small claims court are probably more than the value of the video game. Your son took a risk when he loaned the video game to his friend. Hopefully your son learnd a valuable lesson--Don't loan things of value to "friends" because there's a good chance something will go wrong. Would you loan your car or HD to a friend?
