insurance check

my son got injured in school and the schools insurance sent me the check to pay the doctor bills and i cashed it because i am thinking of suing the doctor can i get arrested for that (keeping the money that i was supposed to pay the doctor with from the insurance co?) can the doctors bring criminal chareges against me or just a civil suit? my son went to school in ny state and i now live in Pa

It's hard to say from your facts. If you improperly cashed a check, you could be subject to both federal and state charges. If you are charged, feel free to call or e-mail me directly.
