Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Pennsylvania
What document do I need to have signed in order to publish a book in which I used another's poetry? I have his verbal permission but would like to have a legal written document. Thank you , Jean

You would need the written permission of the copyright holder to publish his/her poetry in your book. A letter signed by the copyright holder in the poetry will do. Hold onto that letter; should disagreements happen later (and they do), it's your proof that you had permission to publish.

The other attorney is right on point here. A sign and dated letter giving consent is what you need. Keep the letter in a safe place. Consult with an attorney in your area for specifics.
