Oh, come on! Of course it's a scam -- you didn't buy a ticket, did you? How can you possibly think that you have won anything?

The whole point is to obtain personal information about you and even possibly enlist your cooperation in either theft of your identity or eliciting money from you to help claim your "prize."

One of my clients recently brought one of those types of e-mails in to me. There are several kinds and they are all scams. The most prevalent ones are the ones claiming to have millions of dollars in an abandoned bank account; next are the ones claiming to be from a Bank asking you to update your information; next are the ones asking you to represent an overseas company; the lottery are about the fourth most common; and there are always a few claiming to be from e-bay and pay-pal wanting you to update your information. They are all scams.
