Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania
Defamation of character
Someone at work has verbally attacked me, humiliated me and defamed my character in front of other employees. What rights do I have? does the company I'm working for bear some responsibility for their employees actions. The person who verbally attacked me is a supervisor for a different dept. therefore he is aware of the company's policies on such abuse of another employee. Can I sue him and the company for defamation of character and for the humiliation I was subjected to. If not, can I suggest that this guy seek anger management therapy and for me to get compensated for lose wages, although it's only been 2 days since I left work. My supervisor and the company's HR has asked me to come back to work. So, what are my ''rights''?

Re: Defamation of character
Your facts are insufficient to determine whether you may have a claiim. Much might hinge on what the namture of the statements were ans whether they provide a basis for a violation of certain federally or state protected workers rights. In addition the company if it has certain written anti harassment policies may have been required to take some action. I suggest you contact further with an attoreny I would be glad to speak with you if you contact my office for a consultation.

Without knowing any more, from your facts alone, it is hard to say. You may have a claim for harassment, but you will need to consult with an attorney. I don't charge for consultation, so feel free to call our offices any time.
