Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

Employer angry about medical issue

I am the unhappy genetic recipient of a rare form of Cluster Headache. I can be fine for many months at a time, but an attack can last for months too and they can be near disabling at the peak.

The second week of an attack, I knew I had a problem starting and informed my employer of the situation (they knew it had been an issue in the past when they hired me, I was very upfront about it).

Over the last month they will not work with me to reduce my workload (though they say they did reduce it, but as a ''punishment'', not to help me)or adjust time limitations that the entire dept needs. Recently they have been outright hostile that I took days off for an inpatient treatment that did not ''cure me''.

I've now recieved a formal warning with circumstances that are not true, with a warning to ''sign it or we'll sign it for you''. I'm not being allowed to add an explanation to it, so I'm signing nothing, should I be calling a lawyer instead?

Re: Employer angry about medical issue

You asked about a situation that may fall under the Americans with Disabilities Act or the Family Medical Leave Act.

You must speak with an attorney promptly to enforce and protect your rights.

Regards,

Roger
