Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

Unfair unemployment

My father was recently diagnosed with Bipolar disorder & was hospitalized for over a week for treatment. When he tried to return to work, his boss told him he was fired & he would fight him if he tried to collect unemployment. My father's boss was notified by my mother why he was in the hospital, this confidential medical information was spread around the office. Comments were made to my father such as, "Hey, I heard you were locked up in the looney bin." Is there anything we can do about both the unemployment & breach of confidentiality.

Re: Unfair unemployment

It would seem from the situaiton you described that your father should be able to collect unemployment. He may also ahve a claimn under the ADA.
