If 4 girls sign a rental lease for a year (2 college semesters) and 1 or 2 of them break the lease are the remaining girls responsible for the unpaid rentof the 2 that broke the lease?

Generally, yes, you would be responsible for that portion of the rent. PA is a joint and several liability state which means each person can be responsible for the entire debt. However, you could sue those that broke the lease to recover your loss.
