Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

help! landlord won't return security/remove names from lease!

Here's our problem- 3 years ago I moved into a house- there were 3 people on the lease, myself and two other girls. A year later, myself and one of the girls moved out, one stayed. We sent notice more than 60 days in advance as the lease directed, cleaned out our rooms and removed everything from the common areas. Over two years have passed and we still haven't been able to retrieve our security deposit. To make matters worse our names are still on the lease because our landlord says he hasn't been able to get the new tenants to sign paperwork. We kept the building and front yard clean, these new tenants have painted the walls and received citations from the city for trash in the yard. When we call the landlord he says that he dropped paperwork off for the new tenants to sign, when we talk to the tenants they say they haven't received any paperwork. We don't know who to believe. We've been in this situation for almost two years now and are beyond frustrated. We want to know if there's any sort of legal action that can be taken to get our names off this lease. Our only misstep was not doing a walkthrough with the landlord or his employees, but this was only because they don't keep appointments/return phone calls. Thank you!

Maybe. I don't fully understand the facts though. You say that you gave 60 days notice? Of what? Moving out? Did the lease say that you had the right to terminate upon 60 days notice? How long was the lease term? Was it one year and the 60 day notice was to state you were terminating? If so, and you complied with the lease terms then the landlord is in violation of the Pa Landlord tenant act. call me to discuss 610.647.5800. perhaps a call or letter from an attorney would persuade them to act.
