Not paying your rent is always a risky decision. It will give your landlord the right to sue and try to evict you. If you choose not to pay your rent, it is always best to consider placing the rent into a separate interest bearing account. It is for a Judge to decide if your rent can be abated. It is likewise for the Judge to decide how much of a rent abatement is appropriate. If you are considering taking some sort of action, filing a Civil Complaint and suing at your local magistrate court is probably your best bet.
