medical malpractice jargon

I'm a court reporter trying to find a correct spelling. The lawyer asks the nurse if he has ever heard of an ''impalic'' claim? Any idea what he could be referring to? I just need a correct spelling.

I'm a doctor / lawyer - that makes no sense to me.

IS this a legal term or a medical term?

The only thing I can think of is E.M.T.A.L.A.
