deeds

my mother in laws mom passed away and the sister who lived with the mom claims that the mother deeded the property to her. However, we have found no record of the filing in the department of records. The property is in Philadelphia, Pa. Is there a certain amoutn of time to file a deed before it is rendered non binding? ^ months?

Re: deeds

If the sister says it was deeded more than a few days ago, it should already show as having been recorded. If the deed has not been recorded, sister does not own the property.

Your mother-in-law's mom's estate will have to go through probate before the property can be deeded to the rightful heir[s].
