Renter or Purchaser?
My husband & I put our house in Missouri for sale and completed a Contingency Sales Contract with a $1,000 deposit on a house in Pennsylvania where we moved with an addendum allowing us to rent the property at $400/month until March 2000 and if our Missouri house hasn't sold by then, the agreement is extendable.
We have four children and have since found none of the baseboard heaters work in the house and the electrical service in the house is unsafe.
The owners have refused to fix the above conditions and we are threatening to use the rent money to pay for the repairs.
What are our options? Are we renters or the owners of the property?
Please help.....

Your question is difficult to answer without a review of the lease purchase document. I suggest you seek the advice of legal counsel. Depending upon the terms of your agreement you may have rights to cancel.
