Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

Septic Problems

I purchased a home last August. We didn't move into the house until November/December. We are now finding problems with the septic system. I had a plumber come out and he told me we need to have the leech bed dug up and replaced. To do this is about $14,000. He told me that this is not a problem that just started. He said that the previouse home owner had to have known about it. What recourse do I have? I can't afford to pay $14,000, but the problem needs to be addressed because the yard is getting very swampy.

Re: Septic Problems

The seller has a duty to disclose know problems. Sounds like they didn't.

Unless the previous owner is willing to take responsibility you will probably have to sue them to get them to pay for the repair.
