Legal Question in Social Security Law in Pennsylvania

Refusal to fill out required paperwork for change of information SSi

My wife mother refuses to fill out a form necessary to move forward in finding out if my wife is still eligible for ssi. She has recieved ssi before we got married and the mother was in charge of her check prior to us getting married. My question is is there any legal action i can take to force the mother in law to fill out this form? Its affecting my daughter and wife medicare benefits as well.

I shall assume that your wife is disabled and received SSI as a child and perhaps as an adult.

You do not need your mother-in-law. Both you and your wife should go to the local SSA office and make a new application for SSI.

You can apply to become the payee representative. Telephone or visit the Social Security Office nearest to you to apply.
