SS spouse convicted
The husband collects SS for disability and will be convicted of a crime. His wife can not afford to pay their bills/mortgage without his SS, she also works fulltime but it isnt enough to cover the bills..is there anything she can do to collect some of the SS?? She will have to file bankruptcy if she doesnt get the SS.Doesnt seem fair since her husband is the one that is in trouble and created most of the bills that they have

Re: SS spouse convicted
I'm not sure of the answer to this. Maybe someone with more recent experience in the area has an answer. My last experience was with a person who was convicted of a crime for which a sentence of imprisonment of one year or more could be imposed and the person lost their benefits for the time actually incarcerated (1 month) although she had dependents.
