Legal Question in Traffic Law in Pennsylvania
liability of a prent
I have a 19 y.o. son who lives with me, has only a permit, no insurance, and bought a truck. He has been driving without my permision and states he is going to get the required documentation. If he gets into an accident would I be held accountabe for anything since he lives with me?

Re: liability of a prent
You asked if you could found liable for damages if your 19 year old child caused injury while driving without insurance.
It is not clearcut either way. Any decent attorney will attempt to find all sources of recovery for an injured party. If he is still living with you and injures someone I can assure you that you will be sued. But a full analysis would be necessary to determine to what extent the adult child was either emancipated from you or dependent on you for support.
My suggestions are thus, slap him upside the head and tell him to use his brain. Then tell him if he wishes to continue to live with you he must have a valid license and insurance to operate his truck. If he doesn't comply then either he can't drive or he can't live with you. His choice.
