Motorist Phoned-in Complaint About My Driving

Recently a police officer showed up at my house and informed me that a motorist had phoned in a reckless driving complaint against me. He told me that the motorist said I had run a red light and was allegedly smoking a illegal substance. He asked me some questions and told me I would receive a letter summoning me to court. Can they really do that? What is situation? They don't have any evidence of this except a motorist complaint. I'd like some help. Thank you.

Re: Motorist Phoned-in Complaint About My Driving

Well, it really depends. Obviously, the motorist would have to testify in court against you. They certainly won't be able to prove the illegal substance allegation, but the red light is another question. Wait to see what you're charged with, and contact an attorney immediately upon receiving charges.
