Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania

Will asset copy

My mother left me my fathers hunting gear and left my two sistes all remaining assets in the will. Am I entitled to a copy of the probate assets, that would include all items of the settled estate?

Re: Will asset copy

Normally, after a will is probated (filed with the Register of Wills), the executor must give notice to the beneficiaries that the will has been filed, making it available for inspection.

Also, when estates are administered, the following are opportunities to discover what was in the estate:

1. Inventory, which is filed with the Register of Wills and also with the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue with the Inheritance Tax Return.

2. The executor either files a formal accounting, which would list assets of the estate, and expenditures on its behalf, or

3. The executor may do an informal accounting that is part of a Family Settlement Agreement. You would be asked to sign such an agreement before anything is distributed to you.

That gives you an opportunity to review what was in the estate.
