Birth Certificate without Father's surname

I want to get a passport and requires a birth certificate. When I get my copy I just knew that I had no father's surname. I learned that my parents were not married yet the time I was born. It was year 1977. From the time I went school I was using my Father's surname and all my personal identities documents,ID's. How can I correct these?What are the steps should I take. Please help,thanks

You need to file a petition in court to show your filiation with your father. Meaning you have to show proof that indeed you are the child of your father. Should the court be satisfied, an order would be issued decreeing your filiation with your father. Hence your right to use the surname of your father.
