Legal Question in Criminal Law in Rhode Island
Never went to court, do I have a warrant?
I was pulled over 13 or 14 years ago in Providence R.I.. I was only charged with driving violations like, unregistered, uninsured, no license, etc. Nothing serious.
I never went to court for the hearings. Never even saw a judge or entered a plea at all. Considering this happened so long ago is it possible I have a warrant or has the statute of limitations been reached??? Do I have anything to fear?

I suggest that you do a investigation to determine if there is an outstanding Rhode Island criminal arrest warrant.
I suggest that you do the following:(1) obtain a copy of your bci report (Bureau of Criminal Identification report) from the Rhode Island attorney General's office and see whether there is a warrant indicated on that report.
This report can be obtained at the RI attorney generals' office for a fee of $5 dollars with proper identification. If you are living out of state, I suggest that you call them to determine how to get a copy of your bci report.
I also suggest that you go to the rhode Island records center in pawtucket Rhode Island and look at the actual file for the criminal case. The criminal file would indicate whether there is a warrant.
The clerk there may be willing to look up the case number for you if you give him or her enough information.
If there is a warrant I suggest that you hire a Rhode Island Criminal law lawyer to attempt to resolve the warrant. Sometimes resolving the warrant is just amatter of paying fees , fines or court costs.

There is a warrant for your arrest. Warrants are forever. That's the way the system works.

There mighy be a warrant for your arrest in RI, but chances are they would not extradite you from California. Worst case, you are pulled over in CA for a moving violation, the warrant is discovered, and you are held until RI tells them they don't want you sent there.
