Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Rhode Island

My tenant was evicted in Dec 07, today Feb 28 08 the local police have called on her behalf stating that she left dishes valued at 1000.00 and that it is a felony if I don't return them to her is this true? She owes me about 10,000 for lost rent and damages.

Tell the cops you are reviewing the issue with your legal counsel.

I would have to review the Lease and applicable law to advise you. I would keep the items in safe storage until you get the definitive answer.
