Legal Question in Consumer Law in South Carolina

Catering Contracts

Signed a contract for catering of food for 80 people @ $40.00 per person. This was a buffet style dinner. More people showed up than expected, an extra 30. Apparently the catering manager kept filling up the food without my knowledge which I did not want to happen. She never told me that I was at my limit or that they would continue to replenish the buffet. I only paid for 80 and that is all I wanted. Now they are saying I owe them $1200.00. In the contract it states that if I go over 5% of the final count of guest they will charge $2.00 per meal for each person. I think I only owe $60.00, what do you think.

Re: Catering Contracts

I would need to see the contract before rendering an affirmative opinion but based on your facts you may be right. You may contact my offices during normal business hours for an appointment.
