Medical bills collections
If a Hospital does not contact you or file your insurance until 4 years after the treatment was rendered can they still collect on the monies owed?

Re: Medical bills collections
The applicable statute of limitations may have expired, therefore they would not be able to collect unless you did nothing to protect your rights. Are you being contacted by a collection agency? If they are threatening to sue you over a stale claim, then that may be a violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Act. I really would need to know more details. Such as, have you been making payments, or have you been promising to pay, etc.? You may visit my website at http://griffinfirm.tripod.com/ to more fully describe what is occurring. Also, if the hospital failed to file timely under your insurance, they may be barred from collecting directly from you. How much is the bill?
