Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in South Carolina

consumer credit card debt

If a property is listed as a living estate which will belong to me when the owner passes, can a credit card company place a lien on that property for a credit card debt I owe?

Re: consumer credit card debt

I think you mean "life estate" - which means that you would have the right to inhabit the property until your death at which time the property would pass to someone else. If that's the case, there would be a limited value to any creditor. But a creditor would have to file suit against you in SC, and reduce his claim to judgment before levying any sort of lien on property.
