Re: Dui

What you are referring to is called Felony DUI. That is much more serious than your run-of-the-mill DUI. Felony DUI occurs when someone dies or is seriously injured by a drunk driver. By law, the judge only considers two factors when setting the bond. One, whether the person is a flight risk (meaning they will not return to court) And two, whether the person is a danger to anyone. The judge will consider a lot of things including the person's criminal record if any, how long they have lived in the community, how old they are, whether they have family here, own real estate here, and other things that would tie them to the community or the state. Without knowing all the particulars about the case and about the defendant, it would be impossible to predict a bond amount. Your welcome to call if you have other questions or care to explain the case so that a prediction might be made. Robert Johnston [email protected]
