Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Age of Maturity

I am the mother of a 16 year old who currently lives with her father 5 hours away. We have joint custody at this time and it has been this way for 10 years. My court papers stipulate that I lose custodial privileges when I transport her across state line. She and the stepmother do not get along. My question is this....What is the legal age of amturity...in which a child can choose which parent to live with?
