Legal Question in Immigration Law in South Carolina
My wife, was approved form I130 in 1993, as I am only an LPR, we waited until 2001 for a visa to be available, I started requesting updates on my case in 2003 I was told my case was denied as I did never send information the visa center was requesting, USCIS claims my paperwork was destroyed, but I still have my approval notice form I130, now I want to continue to fix this problem, and I am not sure if I can submit I-485 as I am residing in the States or just start my application all over again and leave the country, Can someone, please give me some kind of advised? I do not have any record whatsoever in the states.......
Thank you

Why your wife didn't apply for a visa in 2001 when a visa became available?
Did you live in USA in 2001?
Have you always updated your address with the USCIS during those years?
Are you actually residing in USA or abroad?
You shall consult a qualified immigration attorney.
