Son wants to be discharged

My son has become very depressed since his enlistment. He was unable to complete his primary training and was reassigned. During this time he has found out that the signing and MOS bonus were tied together in his contract and now he will receive no bonus money. The verbal promises of being promoted through hard work have not materialized. He is still an E-1 after 10 months. He has not received reimbursement for the plane ticket he bought to travel to his current base. He has complained of his legs hurting and was finally given an MRI where they found numerous fractures in the legs, ankles, and knees from stress. His NCO has sent him to the base shrink and the chaplain. The NCO has also threatened to hold him back until his attitude improves and that if my son didn't like it, he could run. Does my son have any legal recourse in this stituation? I hope I have convinced him not to go AWOL.
