Legal Question in Personal Injury in South Carolina
communication with your attorney
I have an attorney for an automobile accident I was involved in four months ago. I seem to be having a communications problem with my attorney. I know they have all of the neccessary information to contact the other drivers insurance company and I have called my attorney several times and went by their office several times but cannot seem to get an answer on where we stand as far as the case is progessing or if they have even contacted anyone with regards to a settlement. My queston is should I try to obtain other legal counsel and what would this require if I did so? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Re: communication with your attorney
You should certainly be able to get information from your attorney with minimal effort on your part. Remember, the attorney is working for YOU, and he/she should keep you informed as to the status of your case. If you are not satisfied, there are numerous skilled personal injury attorneys in SC, and I'll be glad to discuss your case with you or make a referral for you if you so desire.
lIf you would like additional information about this or related topics, you can visit my personal injury law blog (www.SCPILaw.com) or our firm's website (www.StevensFirm.com). If I can assist you further, please do not hesitate to contact my office.
Thanks and good luck, Ben Stevens
Re: communication with your attorney
yu can always ask for a copy of your file...but that is your sole decision, it
can't be made by anyone other than you...
once you get the file, other attorneys will talk with you about the file once its in your possession...it is not the business of the lawyer to get between the lawyer-client relationship...
