Legal Question in Product Liability in South Carolina

sewer backup into house

We had a flood from a backed up sewer (we were lucky, not a big mess). Water company wants us to sign a release of damages. We don't see any damage but who knows what will happen down the road? Do we have to sign? Do we have to contact our insurance company?

I can't imagine why it would be to your advantage to sign it. If everything is fixed then I don't know why you would want to contact your insurance company. You may want to simply consult with them though.
