Legal Question in Real Estate Law in South Carolina

Name Removal from Deed

I am in the process of being divorced. My soon to be ex-husband would like my name removed from deeds of property that we own. I have explained to him that until my name is removed from the mortgages and I no longer am financially responsible, I cannot not remove it from the deeds. Am I correct in my thinking?
