Legal Question in Criminal Law in Tennessee
Wrong charge for shoplifting
In 1989 I stupidly shoplifted 2 Nintendo games. I was never arrested. I was given a citation and went to the jail for the booking process and was given a court date. I went to court and plead guilty to shoplifting. I paid my fine and court costs and I met the requirements set forth by the judge. A few years later I went to buy a gun and was denied because I had an outstanding ''petit larceny'' charge. I was never charged with petit larceny. How can I get this straight?

Re: Wrong charge for shoplifting
The question is whether this is the old charge and it is pending, or whether this is just a conviction on your record. If it is on your record there is nothing that can be done. If it is pending, you need a lawyer to deal with it. Contact me via e-mail.
