Legal Question in Criminal Law in Tennessee

Murder trial procedures

Where does a defendant of a murder trial live during the trial? At his home or in a prison?

Would the first trial for a murder suspect by at the home state's Supreme court?

In case you're wondering, I am writing a novel. I would appreciate you taking the time to answering these quick questions.

Re: Murder trial procedures

In Georgia, the trial of a defendant is held in the Superior Court of the county in which the murder occured unless there has been a "change in venue" and then it will be in another county. Change of venue is done if there is a lot of media coverage in the home county that would make it impossible to find an impartial jury. The defendant would live at the jail if he was denied bond or could not post the bond. He would live at home if he was "out on bond".
