Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Tennessee

Job interview questions

I had a phone interview yesterday and was asked not only my age or if I was ''heavy'' but when I stated that my age was 46 the interviewer then asked if I looked younger - what would I say was the age most people guessed. This was for a receptionist position for an entertainment business. I'm very qualified in this position and was very interested. They appeared to be as well until my age and appearance came up. I was also asked if I was married or had a boyfriend.

My interviewer said that he'd speak to his boss about whether or not they'd want me to come in for an interview. I've obviously heard nothing.

Re: Job interview questions

All of those questions are illegal. No employer can make a hiring decision on how old you are, how "old you look" or how old people think you are.
