Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

I have a ten month old daughter whose father has never so much as seen her. He has plainly stated that he wants nothing to do with me or with her. That is precisely what I would like as well, as his recent history has been scattered with domestic violence. His name is not listed on her birth certificate. He said he would be willing to "sign off" on whatever. I am currently in a loving stable relationship and would like for him to adopt my daughter when we get married. Is there anything I can do in the time being to allow him to voluntarily relinquish his parental rights?

Yes, you can go through what is called a termination of parental rights. If he is willing to voluntarily terminate, this should not be a difficult process. However, you will need to obtain counsel to help guide you through this process as courts are very reluctant to terminate the rights of a parent.
