Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Tennessee
Attachment of Personal Property
If someone leaves their personal property at my residence, i.e.tools, yard equipment, is their a point
at which I can attach that property as my own? If this is possible what steps do I take to do this
legally?

Re: Attachment of Personal Property
I suspect that there is more to this question than I would care to have answered innocently in a chat room until I had the complete details. What were the relations before the "disappearance?" Does the Landlord Tenant Act apply? Also, there are steps to be taken which may vary as an innkeeper with lien rights, mechanic & materialmen's liens or under the Unclaimed Property Rights Act. I think you may need to get an appointment or look at the various laws on the net. I hate to be so vague, but on the other hand would hate to mislead, by not having enough facts. Possession is 9/10ths, though. You may have to store the stuff for a time and write to the last known address and make a due and diligent search and have a commercially reasonable sale.
