Legal Question in Employment Law in Tennessee
Employer not paying salary
My husband signed an employment contract with a company stating that his yearly salary was to be $75 K begining in Jan of '99. Now, 6 months plus later, he has yet to get a paycheck. He has spent so much time (traveling and otherwise) for this company that I had to quit my full time job to watch the children when he travelled. The company does not state that they will not pay him but they keep coming up with excuses as to why they can't pay him at this time such as paying off debt, etc. It's always "Oh, in two weeks.." then when that time comes, it's another excuse.
Is there any hope for my husband in collecting his salary due him for the last 6 months?

Re: Employer not paying salary
You should run, not walk, to see an attorney before you lose any more time (a/k/a money) and get this situation worked out. If the company has any integrity, it should make good on its obligation. Also, there is some state law requirements on payments to employees, assuming that is what your husband is, and this should also be explored. If you have any questions or need to talk with an attorney, please feel free to call me.
