Non-compete employment agreements
I have been offered a job with a consulting firm as a technical recruiting manager. I am required to sign a non-compete agreement stating that while working for the consulting co. and for a period of 2 yrs. thereafter I will not provide services on behalf of any competing entity, as an employee, consultant, independent contractor, agent, etc. If I can't get them to specify who the competing entities are how can this agreement hold me back from getting another recruiting position with another consulting firm? How can I protect myself and my rights to obtain employment if things do not work out with this employer?

If you have not already signed the contract, you should consult a competent attorney to review the contract and suggest any necessary changes before you sign. If you are dealing with a sophisticated employer, this hopefully would not be a problem for them.
