Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Tennessee

Beneficiaries' rights

I am a Beneficiary of my grandmother's will, of which my aunt is the executor. My aunt and I have had a falling out and she refuses to give me any information regarding the trust. In six months I come of age and the trust goes to me. Do I have the right to know how much money is in the trust, where it was invested, how much interest accrued, etc.? If so, what course of action can I take to compel my aunt to give me the information she as refused in the past?

Re: Beneficiaries' rights

If the Will has been probated, it seems as though

annual accountings to the beneficiaries of the trust

would be required. From your message, I cannot tell

whether the Will has been probated or not. If you

qualify to receive the proceeds of the trust in six months and information about the trust is being withheld from you, you have the right to petition the court for an accouting as to the trust assets and how they have been managed.

Yes, you are entitled to information about the trust. Do you have a copy of any of the trust documents? Was the trust established by court order? Has the will been probated in court?

We will be happy to answer any questions you have and help you get this information.

Good Luck,
