What happens if there is no original of a will, only a copy?

You are lucky to have at least a copy of the Will. A copy of the Will will most often be acceptable to the court once you prove that a search was made for the original but it could not be found. The proceeding before the court is known as probating a copy of the lost Will.

Unless a strong case can be made to support the copy as being valid, the will will be considered to be revoked by the one who originally made it.
