Legal Question in Business Law in Texas

Is their a breach of contract??? If so what can i do??

i used to live in this apartment complex, and had a lease for one year. i moved out to attend school else where, and the apartment complex informed me of a subleaser for the last month i payed rent for. They faxed over a document with this person's signiture on it, i signed it and sent the document back to them. A month later i called and asked when they would send me a check for the last months rent and they said that he backed out and tuff luck. They failed to informed me that this person backed out when he did of our written agreement. This apartment complex accepted our written sublease agreement for him to take over my lease. Now they say that this didnt go through and im out of time i could have spent in my apartment and the sub-leased rent promised to me. What is my course of action, if any???

You are on the hook for the balance of the lease.

The person that backed out of the sublease apparently didn't sign the lease. The apartment complex didn't do anything legally wrong to where they may be in breach of their contract.
