Licensing laws

I need to know if I need to acquire a business license for a company expanding to the U.S.? It is a Brittish staffing company (Nursing). Thanks for your time.

If I understand your question correctly, I can only speak to Texas law. In short, depending on your type of company, such as a corporatio or partnership of various types, one normally registers the company with the State when doing business here for a number of reasons. As for professional licensing, one would have to contact the appropriate state licensing authority for that information.

If your corporation plans to do any significant amount of business in Texas, then it should apply for a certificate of authority to transact business here. Alternatively, your corporation can form a wholly owned subsidiary corporation. Please contact me if you would like more information.
