verbal threatining
i prank called my friend and verbaly threatened him saying i was going to shotgun his family and kill him. He filed a report and i just talked to the officer. he said there is a good chance the chief of police might decide to put a warrant out for my arrest... isnt this in violation of the 1st amendment... freedom of speech ? should i be able to say anyhtign i want ?

No. You cannot threaten murder and assault. Obviously, your "friend" did not regard it as an idle threat. You may or may not be charged, but the criminal charges could be serious and subject you to serious jail time. I hope you learn from this incident and I hope it does not lead to your incarceration.
