Legal Question in Construction Law in Texas
breach of contract
Our house burned and my husband signed the contract. I didn't. Our contractor walked off the job after demanding more money. He already has about 80% or more of the money with less than 50% of the work done. How long do we have to wait until we can work on the house ourselves or hire someone else to finished it? I am also planning on file a complaint with the TX Res. Const. Comm for the things that were done wrong according to our contract. Someone told my husband we could file something against him so he could no longer get credit at the lumber yards. Is this possible?
Thanks you very much for your help.

Re: breach of contract
Contact the TX Res. Const. Comm. and they can explain their role. Also the OAG has a Consumer Protection Division. If you want an attorney to assist you through this--e.g., reading your contract and advising on the next step--we can assist you. dwnancellc.com
