Legal Question in Construction Law in Texas
Employer keeping and using tools after being fired
After being out of town on a company job..I returned home for 2 days for personal time. I recieved a phone call from work saying I was being let go from the company.. I was then told my personal tools would be shipped back. That was 2 weeks ago and cannot work without them at a new job. How can I force the old company to return my tools and compensate me for lost time?

Your ex-employer may be liable for conversion and may be forced to pay damages. You should definitely have an attorney send a demand letter. If the employer does not comply with the demand letter, you could probably sue him in small claims court without an attorney and without spending too much money. This is depending on the value of the tool and the amount you are suing for.

I cannot answer your question because you have not given me sufficient information. In any event, you will probably need to engage a lawyer locally to get it sorted out.
