Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
Clear auto title/outstanding note
We financed a truck a month ago with our first payment just coming do. However, we received a clear original title showing no lien holder (not the non-negotiable duplicate that we were expecting). What should we do?

Your personal and ethical obligation is quite clear - return the title to the dealer and point out their error. Maybe you'll get a free cup of coffee. Your legal obligation remains unchanged. You signed documents giving the dealer (finance co, bank, etc.) a security interest in the vehicle until the balance was paid. Just because an error was made doesn't mean that you have clear title to tha vehicle.
