Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
Internet consumer purchase
I, living in Florida, purchased a steno writer for $1060 from a party living in Texas. I sent a cashier's check, which was cashed, but I never received the purchased item. I have emails and phone messages promising shipment of the item. I have the seller's full name, address and phone number. What are my remedies to recover my money or receive the paid for item purchased?

2 choices - 1st-contact the police in the city where you purchased the equipment and press charges for theft 2nd-file a lawsuit in the county where you paid for the equipment.

In addition to Mr. Grissom's answer, contact the Postal Inspector if the cashier's check was sent through the US mails. You may also want to contact the Federal Trade Commission, since they also have an interest in internet fraud.
