Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas

privacy violated

I was wondering if I have any recourse. This lawyer is sueing me for a debt I owe to a credit card. He sent me a cert. letter and along with the letter I got a list with my name on it showing my name, address, ss# credit card #,and the balance owed. My problem is there are 20 other people on that list with all their information on it also. I know from calling these people that they received the same list with my information on it. Can he legally give out my personal information without my concent? Let me know what I can do. Thank you ELizabeth

Sounds like there are a lot of problems with that lawsuit which can't really be explored unless personally examined. Problem with evidence as to your debt as well as the privacy issues. You need to hire an attorney. If you are in the Dallas area, feel free to call me.

It won't make the debt go away, but it certainly sounds as if that lawyer breached the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Contact a lawyer in your area that's familiar with the FDCPA.
