Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
residential roofing contract
I signed a contract with a roofing company about 2 weeks ago. The
work will not start for another 4 weeks. My wife's name and signature
are not on the contract. We are legally married but she kept her maiden
name. Is the contract legally binding? Can I cancel? If so, how do I go
about cancelling it?

Re: residential roofing contract
You may be able to cancel the contract. Read through the contract to see if they have any provisions regarding cancelling. If they have not started working there may not be any damages that you would be liable to pay. Try calling the company and explain why you cannot have them begin work. Also, it is highly recommended to contact a local attorney to have he/she review the contract you signed. The attorney can explain how to handle getting out of the contract should the company not want to let you out.
